MicroStation Descartes V8 Beta Released

January 31, 2002 - The Beta release of MicroStation Descartes V8, Bentley's premier imaging software, is now available through the Web Downloads and My SELECT CD areas of Bentley's SELECTservices Online.

To download the Beta, go to Web Downloads and choose the "Beta Products" Application Group. To create a CD, go to MySELECT CD and choose the "Beta & Work In Progress " Application Group.

With this version, MicroStation Descartes is MicroStation V8-compliant and designed to take full advantage of Raster Manager, providing a powerful, integrated professional imaging and design environment. Completely rewritten with state of the art technology, Image ++, MicroStation Descartes V8 is a significant product update.

Highlights of the Beta release include:

- Additional image file formats supported, including all 24 bit formats
- Multiple color depths are supported 1, 4, 8, 11, 24 and 32 bits
- Images are opened and edited in their native formats
- Simplified interface
- Redesigned tool frame and tool boxes
- Image Selection Set support
- Mirror, merge, square, scale, move, rotate, rubber-sheet and warp in a single step
- Display and modification of the latest formats without pre-processing
- Simplified interface and redesigned tool frame and tool boxes
- Direct access to all DGN Workmode and DWG Workmode raster files
